Florence Knoll Bassett (born May 24, 1917) is an American architect and furniture designer who studied under the likes of Mies van der Rohe and Eero Saarinen. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan as “Florence Schust” and is known in familiar circles simply as “Shu”. She graduated from Kinsgwood School in 1934. Wolfgan Toys by Sirch
The Sirch family has been producing products in wood for over 300 years in Germany.
During the last part of the 20th century, the SIRCH Company specialized in industrial shipping pallets, which they continue to manufacture today. After the death of his father Isidor Sirch, Wolfgang Sirch, an interior architect, became president. For a new synergy, he brought Christoph Bitzer, a sculptor, into the company.
The Sirch-Bitzer team began designing and producing very special items for children under the brand name Sibi. All Sibi products are handmade in the Sirch factory in Bavaria, primarily in wood. The first Sibi products introduced in 2000 were the VILLA Sibi modernist doll house, MAX push car and LORETTE Trailer. Sibi products have been awarded the prestigious German “Spiel Gut” design award for toys. The worldwide reception to Sibi designs has met with equally great success.

Hand made by Switzerland’s Sirch, these are the new classics made by Sirch. Just when you’d resigned yourself to watching your tot zoom up and down halls and around the park on a plastic mass-produced push toy, along comes the modern Max car from Switzerland. Features steam-curved plywood and “whisper-quiet” plastic wheels that can be used both inside and outside. There’s a trailer for Max called Lorette.
Unlike your usual first-ride car toys, the minimal Max comes minus the distracting bells and whistles, so it’s just Junior cruising along the wide open road of his imagination (which was really the point anyway). But be forewarned, with a starter set of wheels this stylish, a mini Aston Martin may not be far behind.
